AI has changed everything in security and security awareness has to change to keep up.
But that doesn’t always mean finding scarce budgets for new security tools. A better approach to changing user behavior can be just as powerful and cost nothing.
SECURITY AWARENESS CAN BE FRUSTRATING
In spite of billions of dollars in spending every year, employee security awareness training has made little difference to either security or awareness.
In one of the biggest studies of its kind, in 2025 UC San Diego Health evaluated the training and phish testing of nearly 20,000 employees over an 8 month period.
- They found that 75% of users engaged with the embedded training materials for a minute or less.
- One-third immediately closed the embedded training page without engaging with the material at all.
- Embedded phishing training only reduced the likelihood of clicking on a phishing link by 2%.
That’s frustrating. But those odds can be improved if your employees are personally motivated to care enough.
Give Meaning To What You Already Have
The goal of the Big Security Talk is to help make your existing awareness efforts more meaningful and effective by giving your employees some really powerful reasons to care much more about security awareness.
We do that by showing your employees how some very important dots, dots that impact us and everything around us, are so closely connected:
- That the criminal ecosystem that’s targeting their workplace is also targeting their family, their community, even their democracy.
- The best way to fight back against all of it is simply through some good habits.
- The best way to make habits work quickly is to fire up that strong personal and emotional motivation, and that’s best achieved by thinking about the risk to your family and community.
A very positive feedback loop that will help your employees to view workplace security awareness as something that protects all of us from something that’s far bigger than the workplace.
A FLEXIBLE FORMAT
The Talk is currently available as a 25-minute or 45-minute webinar, live or pre-recorded, and once purchased you’ll have lifetime access to it.
Shorter versions of the webinar are also available and it will also be available shortly as a series of short 2-5 minute videos that can be customized and branded.
And if you don’t already have a security awareness program in place, The Big Security Talk can fill that big and important gap.

It’s easy to motivate your employees to be more security aware. You just have to bring in their grandparents
If their grandparents or kids are being threatened by a scam or fraud, you can bet your employees will get instantly fired up about security. It’s very possible to transfer that passion to the workplace. You just have to tell the story.
